Agentic AI enables organizations to coordinate before people connect, reducing routine work while preserving human trust, judgment, and relationships.
What happens when businesses stop talking to businesses? It sounds like a strange question at first because, for as long as we can remember, every commercial relationship has started the same way. Someone sends an email. Someone schedules a meeting. Someone negotiates a proposal. Someone follows up. Behind every transaction are people talking to people. That has been the foundation of every commercial relationship, regardless of how much technology sits behind it. What makes Agentic AI so interesting isn't simply that it can automate more work. It's that, for the first time, it's becoming possible for some of those first interactions to happen between organizations before two people ever speak. Instead of people coordinating every step, AI agents begin communicating directly with other AI agents within clearly defined business rules. One understands what needs to be purchased, the other understands what's available, and before anyone joins the conversation they've already exchanged information, compared options, checked policies, and prepared the next step. That doesn't replace relationships. If anything, it makes them more valuable by allowing people to spend less time coordinating work and more time building trust, solving problems, and making decisions that technology shouldn't make. Perhaps that's the shift worth paying attention to. For years, digital transformation has focused on making organizations more efficient from the inside. Agentic AI introduces another possibility: changing how organizations interact with each other. Nobody knows exactly how quickly that future will arrive. But we do think we're much closer than most of us realize.
