Don't Start with AI. Start with the bottleneck

AI success starts with focus: solve the costliest, most time-consuming problem first, prove value, then scale with confidence.
One of the biggest mistakes we see companies make with AI has nothing to do with technology. It starts with good intentions. A leadership team decides it's time to invest in AI, so they gather ideas from across the business. Suddenly, there are dozens of potential use cases on the table. Customer service wants AI. HR wants AI. Marketing wants AI. Finance wants AI. Operations wants AI. Before long, the conversation shifts from solving a business problem to chasing as many AI opportunities as possible. The result is something we've seen happen time and time again. Multiple pilots. Multiple tools. Multiple vendors. And very little measurable impact. Not because the technology doesn't work, but because attention gets spread too thin. The companies seeing the strongest results from AI are often taking a much simpler approach. They are not trying to transform everything at once. They are identifying the one process that creates the most friction, consumes the most resources, or slows the business down the most and they start there. Once that problem is solved and the value is clear, scaling becomes much easier. AI is often presented as a technology challenge, but in reality, it is a prioritization challenge. The organizations generating real ROI are not the ones with the longest list of AI initiatives. They are the ones that know exactly which problem is worth solving first. Instead of asking: "Where can we use AI?" Ask: "What is costing us the most money, time, or opportunity every single day?" That's usually where your AI strategy should begin. Not with the technology but with the pain.
