Traditional automation was built around one principle: efficiency through predefined rules. If X happens → do Y. Agentic AI operates differently. It introduces autonomy within execution boundaries, systems that can decide, sequence actions, and coordinate workflows in real time. This is where the UAE signal becomes important. With national initiatives pushing toward agentic AI across government operations and private sector enablement, the focus is no longer just digitizing processes, but redefining how execution itself happens inside institutions. And this raises a simple but uncomfortable question: If systems can now decide and execute within defined constraints, what exactly is the role of traditional process-based automation going forward? Because at that point, it stops being about efficiency gains. It becomes about who actually redesigns execution before the gap becomes structural.
